SUMMARY: When the price of cocoa falls, it's an utter catastrophe for millions of farmers who make their living from it all over the developping world. In 1993, an agreement was reached between producer and consumer countries, aiming to bring production in line with demand, and ensuring an adequate supply of cocoa at a fair price. In Ghana, for example, where the entire economy is based on cocoa, any drop in the market price has a dramatic effect on the lives of its 15 million inhabitants. Attached files: |
